SUMMARY:BIRMINGHAM CAR CLUBS WELCOME SENNA -Birmingham, AL
DESCRIPTION:BIRMINGHAM CAR CLUBS WELCOME SENNA IN STYLE\nat Sunday’s
Sidewalk Moving Picture Festival\n \nBirmingham, Alabama (August 27,
2011) In celebration of the screening of the documentary, Senna, duri
ng the Sidewalk Moving Picture Festival, several local car clubs have
joined forces to coordinate an impressive Senna-themed car show in fro
nt of the Alabama Theatre at 3:00 on Sunday, August 28, 2011 (film sho
w time is 3:40). Two very special Senna-related vehicles from the Barb
er Vintage Motorsports Museum will take center stage in front of the t
heater, flanked by cars belonging to local collectors and enthusiasts.
\n \nWinner of the 2011 World Cinema Documentary Audience Award at th
e Sundance Film Festival, Senna is the story of legendary Brazilian th
ree-time F1 World Championship race car driver, Ayrton Senna. Its sing
le Birmingham screening is part of the Sidewalk Moving Picture Festiva
 l. While Senna is opening to rave reviews at a handful of theaters aro
und the country this weekend, Sunday’s 3:40 show at the Alabama Thea
tre will be the only opportunity Birmingham moviegoers have to see the
film on the big screen.  “Far more than a film for F1 fans, SENNA
unfolds a remarkable story in a remarkable manner, eschewing many stan
dard documentary techniques in favor of a more cinematic approach that
makes full use of astounding footage, much of which is drawn from F1
 archives and previously unseen” (www.sennamovie.com).\n \nMembers o
f several of Birmingham’s exotic and sports car clubs were making pl
ans to travel to the nearest cities where the film opens this weekend
 –  Atlanta, Memphis, and Nashville – when they learned that Senna
would be featured during the Sidewalk Festival on Sunday afternoon.
With the cooperation of the Festival and the Alabama Theatre, the loc
al car clubs will temporarily take over the stretch of 3rd Avenue Nort
h that runs in front of the theatre, and even a patch of sidewalk, wit
h a display of cars (and a motorcycle) that reflect a Senna theme. Fro
m the car clubs, look for a Ferrari 355, a Lotus Esprit, a Mercedes Be
nz AMG SLS, a Ford GT, and an Acura NSX. And courtesy of the Barber Vi
ntage Motorsports Museum, look for the Lotus 95T F1 car (twin to a car
Senna raced), and a MV Agusta F4 “Senna” motorcycle. Depending on
street closures at the time of arrival, an additional two dozen of Bi
rmingham’s finest exotic and sports cars may cruise by the front of
the theater around 3:00.\n \nThe clubs who joined together to coordin
ate the pre-Senna events are the Alabama Region Porsche Club of Americ
a; Alabama Region Sports Car Club of America; Birmingham British Motor
 ing Club, Ferrari Club of America; Lotus Ltd. Alabama Lotus Car Club;
Mercedes-Benz Club America Alabama Section, and MOB, Inc.\n\nFor more
