The Car Couple

Ryan and his wife, Marilyn, have been writing The Car Couple auto review column for about 10 years.

They live in beautiful Ellijay, Ga. with their cat Nina and enjoy the mountain scenery, especially the winding roads.

The Car Couple features an overview of the week's featured vehicle and then Ryan's Ride with his comments and Marilyn's Moment with her likes/dislikes. (Most people skip to her section first)

The column currently appears weekly to several newspapers in north Georgia.

As an aside, Ryan was recently elected president of the Greater Atlanta Automotive Media Association (GAAMA), which is a group of automotive media professionals in the Atlanta area with members in Alabama, Tennesse and North Carolina. For more information or to join, visit www.gaama.org.

The new park, currently under construction just outside the Dawsonville city limits, is expected to open later this year.

Much like a golf country club, AMP offers members exclusive use of the facility. Future plans include a clubhouse with restaurant, fitness room, swimming pool and tennis courts.

Ryan,

How are you doing? I was hoping to see some articles from you both on the site?  Have you all recovered from the storms?  I also was wondering what the plans are for GAAMA for June. I have guest I want to bring. :-)

Alan, I am sorry you all have had some difficulties this week with the storms. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.  BTW, We have a guest room anytime you guys need a respite from the peace and quite of North Georgia  :-)  You both really need to meet Susan. She is a delight and we would have a good time hanging out as couples.  Mike

PS Don is still struggling against the rain at AMP. Monday washed all his work out again.  He is, however, prevailing. He does all the work, I just provide a "bitching post". :-)

A Bite of History: by Mike Thies

1958 Porsche 356 Speedster

The 1958 Porsche 356 Speedster marks the swan song of one of Porsche’s most iconic and minimalist models. Originally introduced in 1954 at the urging of U.S. importer Max Hoffman, the Speedster was designed to be a low cost, lightweight, stripped-down entry sports car that could double as a weekend racer, especially for the California sports car scene. With its low windshield,…

1948 Rover P3 Saloon

The 1948 Rover P3 Saloon marked a pivotal moment in the evolution of British motoring. Introduced in the immediate aftermath of World War II, the P3 was a bridge between prewar craftsmanship and the modern engineering ethos that would come to define Rover’s future. Although its styling retained many traditional elements, including an upright grille, separate fenders, and rear-hinged front…

Why It’s Hard to Recruit Younger Members to Volunteer Car Clubs, and How to Fix It

Car clubs have long been the social engine of the collector car world, bringing people together to swap parts, plan road trips, attend shows, and preserve automotive history. But in recent years, many volunteer-run car clubs have struggled with a pressing problem: recruiting and retaining younger members. The concern isn’t just about numbers, it’s about sustainability. As the…
