Event Description

The Hard Times Street Rod Club presents.....
The 37th Annual Moonshine Rod Run will now be held on Friday and Saturday over Father's Day Weekend in June of 2021 at City Park in Newport, Tennessee.  The Moonshine Rod Run is one of the most successful car shows in the Southeastern United States attracting more than 500 Collector, Classic, and Muscle Cars and Trucks.  Our picturesque park provides an abundance of shade and is the ideal venue for this annual gathering of car enthusiasts, families, and friends who join us every year on the Father’s Day weekend.

This year we again have several special guests attending our car show.  Come out and meet Mark & Digger from Discovery Channel’s hit TV series Moonshiners, former NASCAR Busch Series (LMSD) Champion LD Ottinger, and others.   So, grab a few Moonshine Rod Run show shirts and get’em autographed!  Sample food and ice cream from our local vendors, enjoy complimentary pool passes, and participate in a poker run and other games.  The Moonshine Rod Run is a “Family Friendly” gathering.

This event has been presented for the last 37 years by The Hard Times Street Rod Club, a 501.C.3 Charitable Organization chartered in the State of Tennessee.  Proceeds from The Moonshine Rod Run benefit organizations and individuals in local East Tennessee communities in accordance with needs identified by the club members.  For more information: CLICK HERE    Purchase Tickets: CLICK HERE    Join Hard Times Street Rod Club: CLICK HERE

Originally introduced in 1954 at the urging of U.S. importer Max Hoffman, the Speedster was designed to be a low cost, lightweight, stripped-down entry sports car that could double as a weekend racer, especially for the California sports car scene. With its low windshield,…

1948 Rover P3 Saloon

The 1948 Rover P3 Saloon marked a pivotal moment in the evolution of British motoring. Introduced in the immediate aftermath of World War II, the P3 was a bridge between prewar craftsmanship and the modern engineering ethos that would come to define Rover’s future. Although its styling retained many traditional elements, including an upright grille, separate fenders, and rear-hinged front…

Why It’s Hard to Recruit Younger Members to Volunteer Car Clubs, and How to Fix It

Car clubs have long been the social engine of the collector car world, bringing people together to swap parts, plan road trips, attend shows, and preserve automotive history. But in recent years, many volunteer-run car clubs have struggled with a pressing problem: recruiting and retaining younger members. The concern isn’t just about numbers, it’s about sustainability.
