Event Description

Coastal Empire Region Driver Ed
Roebling Road Raceway - June 12th & 13th, 2010

The Coastal Empire Region cordially invites you and your members to our next Driver Education event scheduled at Roebling Road Raceway on June 12-13, 2010.

This event is open to all makes and models, including convertibles with the proper roll bar protection. The only requirements are: (1) drivers must be 18 to enter, (2) your vehicle has to be safety-checked by a mechanic within two weeks of the event and (3) drivers must wear helmets.

Whether you are interested in trying this type of event for the first time or are returning as an avid "track junkie," we have something for all skill levels. As a beginning student you will have classroom sessions and a full-time instructor in the car with you while on the track. This will greatly assist in understanding your skills and the capabilities of your car.

If you have been considering trying a Driver's Education Program for the first time but are concerned about purchasing a helmet and then not wanting to continue, we have something for you. The Coastal Empire Region has a limited number of helmets for you to wear at this event, free of charge. For those who are interested in staying close to the track, we have arranged a special rate ($69 plus tax) at the Hampton Inn & Suites Savannah Airport, 70 Stephen S. Green Drive, Savannah, GA 31408, phone: 912 966 1240. When making your reservation, please make sure you mention you are part of the Coastal Empire Region event.

We will do Grid Tech and Registration on Friday afternoon at the track between 3 and 5 PM. Then it's off to the hotel (Hampton Inn & Suites Savannah Airport) to continue Tech/Registration and enjoy pizza, beer and friendship. Grid Tech and Registration continues from 7 to 8 AM Saturday morning at the track.

1958 Porsche 356 Speedster

The 1958 Porsche 356 Speedster marks the swan song of one of Porsche’s most iconic and minimalist models. Originally introduced in 1954 at the urging of U.S. importer Max Hoffman, the Speedster was designed to be a low cost, lightweight, stripped-down entry sports car that could double as a weekend racer, especially for the California sports car scene. With its low windshield,…

1948 Rover P3 Saloon

The 1948 Rover P3 Saloon marked a pivotal moment in the evolution of British motoring. Introduced in the immediate aftermath of World War II, the P3 was a bridge between prewar craftsmanship and the modern engineering ethos that would come to define Rover’s future. Although its styling retained many traditional elements, including an upright grille, separate fenders, and rear-hinged front…

Why It’s Hard to Recruit Younger Members to Volunteer Car Clubs, and How to Fix It

Car clubs have long been the social engine of the collector car world, bringing people together to swap parts, plan road trips, attend shows, and preserve automotive history. But in recent years, many volunteer-run car clubs have struggled with a pressing problem: recruiting and retaining younger members. The concern isn’t just about numbers, it’s about sustainability. As the…
