We are excited to announce that we will again be doing the Great American Tour June 15-19 in conjunction with the Great Race, and we would love to have you or someone you know participate.

The Great American Tour was established in 2015 to meet the demand of those who could not get into the Great Race. The Great American Tour provides antique and vintage automobile enthusiasts a relaxing tour with like-minded car people, as well as first-class accommodations, incredible food and exciting activities. It also allows participants to see what it is like being in the Great Race without the competition. The Tour participants will take part in the start of the Great Race on Saturday, June 18, in downtown San Rafael, Calif., and be introduced in front of thousands and thousands of spectators. They will also be introduced at the finish venues in Sacramento and Reno.

It’s also a great way for someone to find out if the Great Race is something they want to attempt in the future. Four teams from last year’s Great American Tour have chosen to be in the Great Race in 2016 after seeing what it was like first hand. And anyone who participates in the 2016 Great American Tour will get the first opportunity to sign up for the 2017 Great Race.

The Great American Tour is limited to 25 cars model year 1979 or older. It is an all-inclusive event so all of your meals, hotels, and activities are covered once you arrive in San Rafael.

Before opening this up to the general public, we offered the 25 entries who were in the Great American Tour last year the first opportunity to join, and six have already entered. That only leaves 19 spots.

Please take a look at the attachment which highlights the route and all of the activities. It will be a lot of fun, especially the Wine Country, the San Francisco Bay cruise, the Wine Train and Virginia City.

I have also attached a registration form if you should decide to participate. In order to secure a spot, we are asking participants to pay a refundable deposit of $1,000.00 either via check or credit card. Please feel free to pass this along to your car buddies and your car clubs.
