Event Description

Our October tour will be something I have wanted to try for some time. We will have a picnic at Fort Yargo State Park near Winder. Bring your children or grandchildren for a fun day in the park. See their web site:

https://gastateparks.org/FortYargo

We have a large picnic pavilion rented for the day and I do not anticipate that we will overfill it. The park has a very nice big playground, mini-golf, disk golf, biking, and hiking trails for all to enjoy. Of course, you can socialize with the adults at the picnic shelter while the younger members of the family play. Check-in will be at the Chick Fil-A located at 6085 Northpoint Parkway beginning at 9:00.

Chick Fil-A of Winder will cater our lunch. Be sure you choose what you want for lunch for all members of your party from the options available when you register. Registration will be on clubregistration.net as usual with the club member price being $15.00 and non-members $20.00 for the tour per vehicle. Registration will open Saturday September 21 and will close Sunday October 20.

All box lunch sandwich options will include chips and a cookie. The sandwich options are:

the regular Chick Fil-A chicken sandwich, a grilled cool wrap, the spicy chicken sandwich, or a chilled grilled chicken sub. Condiments will be included.

We will also have two salads to choose from:

A market salad (which has grilled chicken with mixed greens, carrots, red cabbage, blue cheese, apples & berries), or a spicy southwest salad (which has grilled spicy chicken with mixed greens, carrots, red cabbage, cheese, peppers, tomatoes, corn & black beans).

We will have a selection of dressings available for the salads.

Beverages will include water, unsweet tea, sweet tea, diet Coca-Cola, regular Coca-Cola, and Sprite.

All meals will be delivered to the park for us shortly after we arrive. Regardless of which meal you choose the price will be $11.50 per meal.

Triumph TR8

The Triumph TR8, introduced in 1978, was often called the “English Corvette.” It was essentially a Triumph TR7 fitted with a Rover 3.5-liter aluminum V8, a powerplant with American Buick origins that had been adopted by British Leyland in the 1960s. With around 135 to 150 horsepower in…

1967 Mercedes-Benz 250SL

Introduced in late 1966 for a short, single-year production run, the 1967 Mercedes-Benz 250SL holds a special place in the “Pagoda” lineage (W113 series) as the rarest variant, with only about 5,196 units built. Positioned between the earlier 230SL and the later 280SL, the 250SL…

A Bite of History: 1958 Porsche 356 Speedster

A Bite of History: by Mike Thies

1958 Porsche 356 Speedster

The 1958 Porsche 356 Speedster marks the swan song of one of Porsche’s most iconic and minimalist models. Originally introduced in 1954 at the urging of U.S. importer Max Hoffman, the Speedster was designed to be a low cost, lightweight, stripped-down entry sports car that could double as a weekend racer, especially for the California sports car scene. With its low windshield,…
