Event Description

The Spring Aircooled Therapy Event will be held at the VW Barn in Clermont, Georgia, May 5-7. Y'all are invited to attend and spend whatever time you can wrenching on yours or others' VWs, enjoying good food, listening to good music and spending time in the company of friends, new and old!

For those who have not attended our events in the past, the VW barn offers two work areas that allow simultaneous work on up to 7 different vehicles, under cover and on concrete. So, whatever the weather throws at us, work can progress on projects large and small. We also have separate enclosed work areas, engine stands and tables available for rebuilding engines, carburetors, etc. Thanks to the generosity of many people, the barns are well lit with overhead LED lighting installed by Chris Townsend and Otto VeeDub’s dad.

Equipment available includes jacks and jack stands, a MIG welder and large air compressor for air-powered tools. We have a multitude of hand and VW specialty / test tools that have been donated by Clyde Maddox, Michael Taylor, Jeff Patterson, Pete Hankins, Nathan Williams, Patrick McGuire, Ben Gresham and others.

For those who like to camp in your buses or tents, we have a large level arena complete with fire pit for evening festivities.

Kids and Dogs (on leash) are welcome!

Menu - Stay tuned for more specifics about the food.

What can I bring? All those attending are encouraged to bring breakfast/snack items, a side dish, chips/dip or dessert (Rhonda Townsend - we are talking your wonderful tiramisu here! I’ll be bringing several Dutch overs for some dessert and breakfast treats. Pretty sure I can talk John Lehmberg into bringing his homemade ice cream maker too.)

BYOB!

Last word - We REALLY need an accurate head count to ensure we have enough food available for everyone, so please register your attendance in the dropdown above. If life happens and you aren't able to attend, just change your plans in that same dropdown. (This also helps us avoid eating leftovers for the next month!)

If you have any questions, just post them in the discussion here or PM me.

Covid Info - Most of the hosts have had our vaccines. Please wear masks or social distance to your comfort level and respect those with different comfort levels. (It’s hard to stay 6 feet apart when you are wrestling a VW engine in or out of a vehicle!)

We look forward to seeing you and providing an environment where you can complete work on your VW as well as have a great time with like-minded people!

As always I want to give a huge thank you to Bruce and Kathy for all their time and effort that goes into this every 6 months. I get far too much credit for these. I just came up with the idea of getting together but Bruce and Kathy took the idea and ran with it and created an amazing “clubhouse” of sort for us to get together and really make it happen. Thank you.

The 1948 Ford F-1 Pickup

The 1948 Ford F-1 wasn’t just a new truck, it was the start of something big. When Ford introduced it, they launched the very first F-Series, the truck line that would become America’s favorite for generations. This was the first Ford pickup built on a dedicated truck chassis rather than a car-based frame,…

The “Car Guy’s Garage”

Step inside a place like this and you can almost hear the echoes of every wrench turned and every engine fired back to life. The light hums off the old signs, Route 66, Coca-Cola, Phillips 66, and the smell is that unmistakable mix of oil, leather, and stories. This isn’t just a garage. It’s a…
