The first Hemmings Motor News Great Race presented by Hagerty rally car has arrived in Kirkwood, Missouri at the Holiday Inn for the 2015 event. It is Buddy Green’s 1962 Corvair Spyder turbocharged car. Pat and Pat Brothers arrived a little later and are already delighting the residents of Kirkwood with their 1931 Buick speedster as they motor around town. The eight Japanese cars have arrived in Missouri after getting hung up in customs for a few weeks, but they are still in storage at MotoXotica just outside of town.
More than 100 teams will continue to flow into Kirkwood over the next two days as the Great Race draws near. The green flag waves at 10am on Saturday, June 20th in downtown Kirkwood.

Comment
The Great Race is an antique, vintage, and collector car competitive controlled-speed endurance road rally on public highways. It is not a test of top speed. It is a test of a driver/navigator team’s ability to follow precise course instructions and the car’s (and team’s) ability to endure on a cross-country trip. The course instructions require the competing teams to drive at or below the posted speed limits at all times.
