Information

Street Masters Car Club

Street Masters Car Club was formed in the spring of 1985 as a social organization with a common interest --- CARS. The purpose of the club is to promote family friendly activities that bring together people with an interest in classic cars and street rods. One goal of the club is to perpetuate the restoration, preservation and enjoyment of classic cars by sharing ideas and special talents. Membership in the club does not require that you own a show car, only to share an appreciation of them and the people who love them. The club meets on the last Wednesday of each month at 7 P.M. at Loco's Grill & Pub Located on the eastside of Athens at 985 Barnett Shoals Rd., Athens, GA 30605 (706) 208.0911

Community service is another goal of Street Masters Car Club. We organized benefit car shows for several years. Proceeds from these shows went to a variety of causes such as picnic tables for Sandy Creek Park, a mural in the children’s exhibit building at Sandy Creek Nature Center, as well as organizations like the American Cancer Society. For more than 10 years Street Masters Car Club has been one of the groups of five car and motorcycle clubs that work together to organize the Salvation Army Motorcycle & Street Rod Toy Ride for Kids in December in Athens.

The club has organized or participated in many just for fun activities over the years. One of our best is the monthly Cruise Night at the Varsity from April through November. Our cruises are held the first Saturday night of the month. The months of April, September, October, and November you can find us at the Varsity on a Sunday afternoon. Early spring and Fall UGA football schedule sometimes make it necessary to switch to Sundays. The club was, for 6 years, the host club for the Hot Rod Magazine Power Festival at Atlanta Dragway in Commerce, Georgia. We can’t resist parades, and love to go as a group to major events like the Turkey Rod Run in Daytona, Florida; Cherokee, North Carolina; and Charlotte Autofair.

If you’re interested in joining our club, you can call Tommy Landrum at 706-742-2931 for more information, or come to one of our monthly meetings to check us out.

1958 Porsche 356 Speedster

The 1958 Porsche 356 Speedster marks the swan song of one of Porsche’s most iconic and minimalist models. Originally introduced in 1954 at the urging of U.S. importer Max Hoffman, the Speedster was designed to be a low cost, lightweight, stripped-down entry sports car that could double as a weekend racer, especially for the California sports car scene. With its low windshield,…

1948 Rover P3 Saloon

The 1948 Rover P3 Saloon marked a pivotal moment in the evolution of British motoring. Introduced in the immediate aftermath of World War II, the P3 was a bridge between prewar craftsmanship and the modern engineering ethos that would come to define Rover’s future. Although its styling retained many traditional elements, including an upright grille, separate fenders, and rear-hinged front…
