Sounds like you all are having fun! I am looking forward to getting to one of your events. What are the classes? Do you run a stock class?

We are pleased to have a good VW person on board. I can see that you are also a very busy person! I am gratified with any time you can give to share your events and stories, but it is really important for VWs that you get all the VW events posted. Just the two sites you showed me have at least a half dozen events to get posted. :-) Luckily, they don't take much time and please link them back to their original sites and emails. That kind of germination helps both sites and improves the chances that folks looking for events on the search engines find VW car shows, races, etc. There are so many enthusiasts that go without the proper information and miss great events.

Tell me about your first VW. Mine was a '65 tan Beetle that I bought in California. By the time my friend drove it back east for me it had lost its front bumper. I bought one to replace it from JC Whitney! It had a great gas heater which as the years went by, was the "blue print" for heaters in both my bugs and busses. :-)

PS It was like this one, though I don't think it it is the exact car. I lost my photos years ago. I traded it for a red bus in 1973.

Welcome Kathy!!!
It's great to have you on board! I am looking forward to great photos (and maybe videos) of your favorite VWs, as well as others of different "wheels" and events you enjoy. It is good to write about your "wheels" adventures on the blog, as we all enjoy stories from our members. Also, please tell me more (or write a blog!) about SoutheastVW. Is it a club or a group?
One of the real strengths of our website is the feature that any member can add events whenever they find one that we have overlooked! You do not have to "submit" through emails or the postal service, etc.
Please invite your family and friends as this helps the site grow and improves your social network communications. Add me as a site Friend, too, and I will keep you up to date on announcements and special events.
Sincerely,
Mike Thies
PS I love VWs. It used to be PunchBUG when I was a kid.

A Bite of History – (by Mike Thies)

1988 Alfa Romeo Spider Quadrifoglio

When you step back and look at an Alfa Romeo Spider Quadrifoglio, you’re not just seeing a sleek Italian convertible, you’re seeing one of the last gasps of true analog romance from the 1980s. By 1988, most sports cars had started to bulk up with electronics and smog equipment, but Alfa’s little Spider kept its…
