Event Description

Georgia Triumph Association

21st Annual GTA Polar Bear Run - Head for the HillsThe 21st annual Georgia Polar Bear Run will kick off this year on Saturday, December 26th at the Starbucks/Sprouts parking lot in Roswell, and wind our way north to Blue Ridge, GA.

Preparations are underway for the 21st Annual Polar Bear Run.

This annual event is the last drive of the year and traditionally takes place on the last Saturday of the Year.

It is typically our largest drive turnout of the year with 40-80 cars from all clubs, regularly attending.

Last year’s drive to Cloudland Canyon State Park was attended by 46 cars.  At its peak, the PBR was attended by 107 cars, led by a 1973 Cadillac ambulance with a working siren, or as some might call it a "sirene."

For the past three years, the drive has started at Atlanta Motorsports Park.  AMP graciously made the offer to host our start again this year, but to accommodate for Covid-19 safety and social distancing, this year’s drive will begin in Roswell GA at the parking lot behind Starbucks located at 10800 Alpharetta Hwy, Roswell, GA 30076.  This is at the corner of Hwy 9 and Mansell Rd, where many GTA drives begin. The drive will end in beautiful downtown Blue Ridge GA.  Driving directions will be distributed with a list of local restaurants.  After we disperse for lunch, anyone that would like to gather at Grumpy Old Men Brewing at 1315 East Main Street in Blue Ridge for an adult beverage is welcome.  GOM is located about one mile up E. Main from our restaurant parking area.

This drive is used as a fundraising event for ALS.  Voluntary cash donations are greatly appreciated.  We typically raise $1000+ for ALS.  So please consider bringing along a little extra dough for ALS.

Thanks,

1958 Porsche 356 Speedster

The 1958 Porsche 356 Speedster marks the swan song of one of Porsche’s most iconic and minimalist models. Originally introduced in 1954 at the urging of U.S. importer Max Hoffman, the Speedster was designed to be a low cost, lightweight, stripped-down entry sports car that could double as a weekend racer, especially for the California sports car scene. With its low windshield,…

A Bite of History: by Mike Thies

1948 Rover P3 Saloon

The 1948 Rover P3 Saloon marked a pivotal moment in the evolution of British motoring. Introduced in the immediate aftermath of World War II, the P3 was a bridge between prewar craftsmanship and the modern engineering ethos that would come to define Rover’s future. Although its styling retained many traditional elements, including an upright grille, separate fenders, and rear-hinged front…

The Volunteer Gap: Thoughts on Why Car Clubs Are Struggling to Fill Leadership Roles, and What to Do About It

With car shows, cruise-ins, tours, parades and varied events across the country, car clubs continue to bring enthusiasts together for camaraderie, preservation, and celebration of automotive history. But behind the scenes, many of these clubs are hitting a serious speed bump: no one wants to take the wheel. Volunteer-run clubs are facing an increasingly common…

Why It’s Hard to Recruit Younger Members to Volunteer Car Clubs, and How to Fix It

Car clubs have long been the social engine of the collector car world, bringing people together to swap parts, plan road trips, attend shows, and preserve automotive history. But in recent years, many volunteer-run car clubs have struggled with a pressing problem: recruiting and retaining younger members. The concern isn’t just about numbers, it’s about sustainability. As the…
