One of the most anticipated car unveilings of 2015 was the Cayman GT4 Clubsport. A factory race car from Porsche not based on a 911 became a reality. So now we have this awesome car but where to race it? PCA, PCNA, and Porsche Motorsports all came together and the Cayman GT4 Clubsport Trophy East was born; a new series for 2016 that will run select events on the PCA Club Racing calendar. Word has it the West Coast will have its own series of events however, on the right coast the first one is Peachstate's own Club Race at Road Atlanta April 1-3, 2016. That's right WE get to see them racing first!
We are excited to see the PCA Club Racing program grow and expand with this new offering for the club racer but there is just too much goodness to cover in this article so the best thing to do is email F. Allen Shirley, PCA's Cayman GT4CS Trophy East Coordinator here. Allen can give you all the skinny on how you could be part of what will be a really cool series to follow in 2016.
Anybody around a track event of any kind knows that there is never enough track time to meet all the demands of the track faithful. Unfortunately, the Peachstate Advanced Solo DE will not be running with the Club Race so we can make room for this new series. Your track chairs and their team are looking over their options including expanded session times for all 2016 DE events and perhaps converting an existing date to a solo only DE. Stay tuned as the year unfolds to hear what positive changes will be happening in the Peachstate DE program.
But most importantly, there really will be factory mid-engine Porsche racing cars on track this year!
