Event Description

Have you ever wanted to try a Rally, but concerned that you don't know the rules, and afraid that you might get plain embarrassed - or worse - get lost somehow? We have just the solution for you: the Peachstate Rally School. We've designed the Rally School specifically for first-time rallyists, although more experienced rallyists are welcome also. Find out why so many Porsche owners love the low-key competition of driving their Porsche in and around beautiful countryside winding roads that they may otherwise never get to enjoy. And find out why rallying is such a fun mental challenge for both driver and navigator, and such a fun way to spend a few hours on a weekend.

The 2016 Rally School will be held on Sunday, April 24th at the Chatsworth Clubhouse in East Cobb county. Sign in begins at 1:00 pm and School starts promptly at 1:30 pm. In the Peachstate Region, all of our Rallies are TSD (Time, Speed, Distance) and based on the Peachstate Rally Generals here. To really enjoy the competition and have fun on a TSD Rally, the participants should have a basic understanding of the Rally General Instructions and how to apply them. In addition, be sure to preview the Peachstate Rally School in 12 lessons on video on the website here. If you have never been on a Rally, or if you would like to brush up on the rules of this game, the Rally School may be just what you're looking for. We'll give you the knowledge and tools to help maximize your enjoyment of rallying. But be forewarned: you might get hooked on rallying!

The Rally School consists of about 60-90 minutes of classroom instruction, followed by "hands-on" learning in the form of experiencing a brief rally, where the rally team can apply some of the information just learned. Although we would like for you to bring your Porsche, in Peachstate Rally events, members may participate in any brand of vehicle. (But you won't have as much fun!) The Rally School and practice Rally will begin and end at the Chatsworth Clubhouse, followed by a short debriefing session and BBQ from G. C. Bar-B-Que. (BYOB for the Social).

Date / Time Sunday, April 24th Registration begins at 1:00 pm with School starting promptly at 1:30 pm.

Place Chatsworth Clubhouse - 4456 Derwent Dr, Roswell, GA 30075

Cost $15 per Rally Team

What to Bring Your car, with a full tank of gas, a clipboard, pencils, a timepiece (digital is best), a printed copy of the Rally Generals from the website. BYOB for the Social afterwards.

Hope to see you April 24th at 1:00 pm!

1958 Porsche 356 Speedster

The 1958 Porsche 356 Speedster marks the swan song of one of Porsche’s most iconic and minimalist models. Originally introduced in 1954 at the urging of U.S. importer Max Hoffman, the Speedster was designed to be a low cost, lightweight, stripped-down entry sports car that could double as a weekend racer, especially for the California sports car scene. With its low windshield,…

A Bite of History: by Mike Thies

1948 Rover P3 Saloon

The 1948 Rover P3 Saloon marked a pivotal moment in the evolution of British motoring. Introduced in the immediate aftermath of World War II, the P3 was a bridge between prewar craftsmanship and the modern engineering ethos that would come to define Rover’s future. Although its styling retained many traditional elements, including an upright grille, separate fenders, and rear-hinged front…

The Volunteer Gap: Thoughts on Why Car Clubs Are Struggling to Fill Leadership Roles, and What to Do About It

With car shows, cruise-ins, tours, parades and varied events across the country, car clubs continue to bring enthusiasts together for camaraderie, preservation, and celebration of automotive history. But behind the scenes, many of these clubs are hitting a serious speed bump: no one wants to take the wheel. Volunteer-run clubs are facing an increasingly common…

Why It’s Hard to Recruit Younger Members to Volunteer Car Clubs, and How to Fix It

Car clubs have long been the social engine of the collector car world, bringing people together to swap parts, plan road trips, attend shows, and preserve automotive history. But in recent years, many volunteer-run car clubs have struggled with a pressing problem: recruiting and retaining younger members. The concern isn’t just about numbers, it’s about sustainability. As the…
