Traditionally, the short-track action at Martinsville has been a game changer in the Chase. Two years ago, Tony Stewart won on his way charging to the  NASCAR Sprint Cup championship. Last year Jimmie Johnson held off valiant challenges from Kyle Busch, Jeff Gordon and Brad Keselowski to pick up the win.
