Event Description

Every first Thursday at the Varsity in Atlanta.

There at least a thousand stories about how the Varsity Meet actually got started. It all just depends on who’s telling the story. Some would tell you that it started off as part of a biker rally more than 20 years ago.  Others might tell you that a local Volkswagen club or websites like Si Atlanta started it and it grew from there. We are willing to bet that the Varsity Meet has been around just as long as the Varsity itself has—and each generation loves to lay its claim as to how it all started.

Varsity Meet Today:

Who cares what the real story is? Today the Varsity Meet is what you might call a “just plain huge” car and bike meet. Not only does it fill the Varsity’s own parking lot, but also has recently began to take over the surrounding paid lots. It is rumored that this humongous meet, which faithfully commences on the first Thursday of every month, is one of the Varsity’s highest grossing revenue days each month.

A Bite of History: by MikeThies

Triumph TR8

The Triumph TR8, introduced in 1978, was often called the “English Corvette.” It was essentially a Triumph TR7 fitted with a Rover 3.5-liter aluminum V8, a powerplant with American Buick origins that had been adopted by British Leyland in the 1960s. With around 135 to 150 horsepower in…
