When the 10 teams roll their cars out onto the purpose-built Beijing street track for the inaugural Formula E race, there is one outfit that will get a bigger cheer than any of the others.
With their bright red paint scheme and unmissable dragon emblem, China Racing will carry the hopes of the majority of crowd.
While China Racing is unique in Formula E in terms of representing an entire nation, its roots go back to a series for which that was the raison d’etre – A1GP.
As a partner in Energem – the energy company behind the ‘world cup of motorsport’, China Racing chairman Yu Liu found himself in a meeting where it was decided that all those present would establish a national racing team ahead of the series’ first season in 2005.
