Visiting the Harley-Davidson Museum from http://www.easyridersevents.com By Jessica Williams 02.04.2010

Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite at Café Racer, learning to ride for the first time or touring the many exhibits and artifacts, you’ll find that Milwaukee’s Harley-Davidson Museum (http://www.harleydavidson.com/wcm/content/pages/hd_museum/museum.j...

has something for everyone. Opened since July of 2008, the H-D Museum’s 13,000 square feet is home to over a century of history and heritage. Be sure you know about all the highlights and offerings to make the most of your visit.

Exhibits and Tours
Several options are available for exploring the Harley-Davidson museum. There are self-guided, audio and behind the scenes tours, as well as discounted group and senior tours. Guests can walk through an endless collection of motorcycles, photos, videos, apparel, rare documents and H-D artifacts. Some exhibits include Harley and the military, an exhibit dedicated to Harley and women, an engine room, and many others.

A never-before-seen archive is now open to the public, containing over 450 bikes and thousands of relics. Walls and plazas displaying personalized rivets tell the stories of many Harley lovers, and you can create your own to be added to the collection that will leave your permanent mark on the H-D Museum for years to come.

Eat and Shop
Hand-in-hand with long rides on the road are hungry bikers and hearty meals. Sit with friends at Motor Bar and Restaurant to get your fill of satisfying American fare; or take a freshly made, on-the-go selection from Café Racer to the waterside and fill your belly while looking out across the Milwaukee skyline.

You can find the perfect gift for enthusiasts and novices alike at the museum’s retail shop. Apparel, posters, photos and merchandise exclusively sold at the H-D Museum will perfectly commemorate your experience.

Programs and Events
The Harley-Davidson Museum hinges on member and visitor interaction. You can rent a Harley, learn to ride one or design the bike of your dreams through their many “Get on a Bike” programs. There are safety driving courses, group rides, demos and more year around.

Experience a Back Roads Tours, family day, shop class, or one of the endless special events that museum-goers can attend. If you’re looking to throw a special event of your own, the H-D Museum can accommodate small and large parties in their six indoor and eight outdoor spaces. The urban landscape and architecture are fitting for rallies, receptions, corporate events and celebrations of all sorts.

Details
Approximately 500 cars and 1,000 motorcycles are accommodated in the museum’s free parking area, and you can purchase your admission tickets online or onsite. Take a virtual tour, download a Harley screensaver and learn more about specific exhibits from the H-D Museum’s website before your visit.
