The Great California Street Rod Civil War

At the 1973 Street Rod Nationals (or so the story goes), rod builders Andy Brizio and Lil’ John Buttera got into a, shall we say, friendly discussion about which end of the Golden State produced the best street rods. Southern Californian Buttera ribbed Brizio, who was from South San Francisco, about how the Bay Area cars were “average” mechanically but were topped by outstanding paint jobs to make them seem more special. Brizio, in turn, said L.A. turned out trick show cars that couldn’t be driven very far. One thing led to another and (so the story goes) the discussion devolved into a “my new car will be better than your new car” challenge. HENRY’S “T” & EDSEL’S “A”

  HENRY’S “T” & EDSEL’S “A”   CLICK ON THE PICTURES!

A major number of polls and surveys have agreed the Ford Model T was clearly the world's most influential car of the 20th Century.  Henry Ford has often been credited as the pioneer but actually the real pioneers were in Europe and the “automobile” had existed for decades. It was true, though, that their public adoption had been limited, and they were mostly scarce and expensive. What Henry really did is put…

A special note of thanks to Mike.

I would like to thank Mike Theis for inviting me to participate in the Peachtree Festival Car Show. This was my 1st car show I've been in with my Boatcar, and then to win "Best of Show" was a real shocker to me. I really enjoyed meeting the other participants and their beautiful rides. What a great way to enjoy Father's Day with family and new friends!! Thanks again.…

The Boatcar

About a year ago my wife made a bet with me that I couldn't build a Boatcar, but I proved her wrong. I purchased a GMC Jimmy with a 4.3 V6 and stripped the entire body except for the chassis, the seats and the motor. I then found a 18.5 ft Sea Ray bow rider that was ready for the landfill. She was stripped of her motor, out drive, and her interior including the floor. I then brought them together as one. She is now street legal because she has head lights, tail lights, turn signals,…

Classic Cars for Celebrities/Families at Roswell Dealership

Written by Marilyn Pearlman

Whether in fashion or cars, it is a matter of picking the right item/style and the right color says Tevie Dante Fraser, co-owner of Fraser Dante LTD, with her husband Thomas Fraser.    The decision to go into business started with one car and lots of Passion, a 1972 Red Oldsmobile Cutlass Convertible, which was a great pick 28 years ago.  That choice has evolved into a full show room with around 50 cars plus!  The husband-wife team speaks from…

INSURING YOUR COLLECTOR CADILLAC (or any collectible car): My personal experience and some tips…

Here’s a question I am asked a lot, especially by members new to Peach State Cadillac: “How should I insure my ‘new’ collector Cadillac?” There are three ways to learn this lesson:

  1. The HARD way: Your “new” Cadillac burns to the ground, then your auto insurance company’s settlement offer is outrageously low. You’ve heard that one before… haven’t you?
  2. The EASY way: You ask someone who knows, and you LISTEN.
  3. The SORT-OF-HARD way: At a cruise-in we were talking…

Atlanta Auto Restoration—Mark Engel’s Dream Came True

“Our clients come from all over the U.S.-- and as far as the Virgin Islands,” says Henry County resident and business owner Mark Engel, who started  Atlanta Auto Restoration in Hampton, Georgia nearly nine years ago.  After two years of conversation about the meticulous process he and his staff of five go through to restore a car, the client shipped his car.

Engel believes that his process of entirely disassembling a car makes Atlanta Auto Restoration unique.      Since the…

“The Voice” & His Vehicles

“The Voice” & His Vehicles

Frank Sinatra was called “The Voice” from early in his career.   He was heard on his first recording with the Harry James Band singing “All Or Nothing At All” which sold about 8,000 copies that year, later to sell millions as he became better known. As he became famous with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, we have few hints on his growing interest in classy cars. He and his wife Nancy…

In Memory of Rob Farley and Davis Gregor NASA-SE

We are deeply saddened by the news that we lost two close friends this last Friday who were part of the NASA-SE family,  Rob Farley was a top notch NASA instructor and a very qualified mechanic. He was always helping folks go faster on track and off and would be eager

to assist anyone in need.

Davis Gregor was only 19 and had just…

Green Replacement Straws for Gear Heads - Its a great idea!

Here is a great idea for gear heads, for all pros and especially us amateurs! It is pretty simple but we have all been there! I lose them all the time. I am talking about the focus straws that come on aerosol lubricants and paint cans.  The red straws that come with the products are taped to the side and often fall off and get lost; especially the ones I keep in my tool box.…
